Classics with a twist!

If big bold colours aren't really your thing, then we can suggest some ideas for Classics but with a contemporary twist!

1) White.
'White on white' weddings are a big trend for summer 2010, but we understand you want to achieve this clean cut timeless look without being boring. We can suggest the following choices for giving white stationery instant appeal...

- Print a white foil pattern onto a white matt card background. The white foil print pattern has a gloss finish to it, so the contrast between the gloss pattern and matt background works brilliantly. Foil printing can be applied to any of our designs, and works just as well on an intricate pattern as on a bold print.

- Emboss a design out from a white card. Embossing a white Flock Heart from a white background (for example) would make the card look that extra bit special. Using a contemporary print design (such as the Flock Heart) alongside such a traditional printing technique would bring the design bang up to date.

Check back soon for our next top tips on how to create a contemporary mix of colours...

- Use a fancy envelope. Why not keep the card simple with classic fonts but create some interest in an amazing envelope! We have just got our hands on some gorgeous rose print envelopes, which have a lovely raised texture to them. They would no doubt create the WOW factor if they dropped through your letterbox, and are much more budget-friendly than the 2 options above.

How to create a modern Romantic theme...

The trick to creating a romantic theme for your wedding day without being too sickly sweet or clichéd, is to use prints with a modern twist. Our Open Rose print is one of our best-selling designs, featuring the most popular wedding flower (the rose!) along with foliage and butterflies. Influenced by the trends of floral prints in interiors (such as Laura Ashley wallpapers and fabrics) and on clothes, these invitations are bang up to date yet still communicate the traditional romantic theme.

Colour combinations that would work well in a romantic theme would be:

Gold & Cream, with Chocolate Brown writing (on a shimmering pearlescent card)
Vintage Pink, Mushroom & Ivory (on a sophisticated matt finish)
Duck Egg Blue & white (tied as a pack with organza ribbon and matching tag)

These pictures give you a feel for our Open Rose prints...

My 2010 Stationery launch!

After weeks of hard work, late evenings, and lists upon lists, I finally had everything ready for my 2010 stationery launch event! I exhibited my new designs at the gorgeous venue of The Partridge in Wallingford, Oxfordshire. With delicious canapés and champagne for all, my stationery went down just as well as i received some great feedback from the brides who attended. One new design called "Secret Garden" seemed to be the most popular new design, but the best-seller 'Vintage Dream' looks like it will be hard to beat still. The next step will be to have them photographed so that i can upload them on my site (and to my blog!) for you all to see!

For a Vintage themed wedding...

The huge trend for everything 'Vintage' has translated into the world of weddings. For timeless sophistication (and photographs that won't date) you can achieve this look with just a few simple touches. Your wedding stationery is an easy way to do this. Our best-selling design (pictured here) is called 'Vintage Dream'. It encompasses all the elements of a classic Vintage frame, with roses, butterflies and foliage to compliment. The simple, graphic style of the illustration give the design a modern twist. We adjust the design to include different flowers, and we have also just finished a Winter Vintage theme (photograph to follow!). This picture was taken at the stunning Hotel du Vin in Henley-on-Thames, and features a matching placecard, menu and table name card.
To incorporate the Vintage style throughout the rest of your day, go for a Vintage hair slide or necklace, dusky pink and ivory roses (you could even trail some roses around a framed table plan to create a stunning entrance to your wedding breakfast), and a classic car!
